LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Duke Energy Florida Announces New Solar Power Projects
LCG, January 29, 2020--Duke Energy Florida (DEF) Monday announced the locations of its two newest solar power plants that will provide a combined installed capacity of nearly 150 MW. DEF is investing an estimated $1 billion to construct or acquire a total of 700 MW of cost-effective solar power facilities from 2018 through 2022 in Florida, and planning for another 1,500 MW of solar generation through 2028.
The newly announced solar projects and locations are the Twin Rivers Solar Power Plant and the Santa Fe Solar Power Plant. The Twin Rivers Solar Power Plant will be built on 460 acres in Hamilton County, Florida and include approximately 235,000 tracking solar panel with a capacity 74.9 MW. The panels will track the movement of the sun to deliver more power from sunrise to sunset.
The Santa Fe Solar Power Plant will be built on approximately 600 acres in Columbia County, Florida. Similar to the Twin Rivers Solar Power Plant, the 74.9-MW solar facility will include approximately 235,000 tracking solar panels with a capacity of 74.9 MW.
DEF will develop, own, operate and maintain the solar energy facilities. The projects are scheduled to break ground in March 2020, with completion scheduled by year-end.
DEF is making additional progress towards achieving its goals on solar capacity installations. Last month, DEF completed the 45-MW Lake Placid Solar Power Plant in Highlands County, Florida, and the 74.9-MW Trenton Solar Power Plant in Gilchrist County, Florida.
Two other solar projects in Florida are also under construction now and nearing completion. The 74.9-MW Columbia Solar Power Plant in Columbia County is scheduled to commence service in April 2020, and the 74.5-MW DeBary Solar Power Plant is scheduled to commence service in June 2020.
