LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Offshore Wind Projects Receive Boost from Massachusetts and Biden Administration
LCG, March 31, 2021--The Governor of Massachusetts signed legislation last Friday that authorizes the state to direct utilities to purchase an additional 2,400 MW of offshore wind energy by 2027. The prior commitment was to procure 1,600 MW of offshore wind capacity to be installed by 2027. The increase to 4,000 MW of installed offshore wind capacity for the Commonwealth comes just before the Biden Administration's newly announced national offshore wind target of 30,000 MW by 2030.
The Governor stated, "Climate change is an urgent challenge that requires action, and this legislation will reduce emissions in Massachusetts for decades to come while also ensuring the Commonwealth remains economically competitive. We are proud to have worked closely with the Legislature to produce bipartisan legislation that will advance clean energy sources and secure a healthy, livable environment for future generations."
Massachusetts has already procured 1,600 MW of offshore wind capacity as a result of legislation signed by the Governor in 2016. Last October, the 800 MW Vineyard Wind 1 project reached a transmission agreement with ISO New England (ISO-NE) to connect to the New England grid. The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) in November approved long-term contracts of the 804 MW Mayflower Wind offshore wind farm with the Commonwealth's Electric Distribution Companies.
Earlier this year, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) filed the third offshore wind power Request for Proposals (RFP) with the Department of Public Utilities for review and approval. The RFP solicits project proposals of up to 1,600 MW of offshore wind capacity.
The new legislation signed this month by the Governor also sets new interim goals for emissions reductions and increases protections for Environmental Justice communities.
