LCG, July 13, 2026--Avantus, an independent power producer (IPP), and Clean Power Alliance (CPA) today announced a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Rexford 2 solar and storage project in Tulare County, California. The project will deliver 200 MWac of solar power combined with a 200 MW/800 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) to the California grid. The project is scheduled to commence construction in 2027 and achieve operations in late 2028. Commercial operations under the PPA are scheduled to start in May 2029. Avantus plans to own and operate facility.

Construction Celebration at Arevon Energy's 300 MW/1,200 MWh Nighthawk Energy Storage Project in California
LCG, July 31, 2025--Arevon Energy, Inc. today announced a milestone celebration event for the construction proceedings at its Nighthawk Energy Storage Project in Poway, California. The $600 million Nighthawk Energy Storage Project, with a design capacity of 300 MW/1,200 MWh, will use modern lithium iron phosphate batteries. The project will be built by Rosendin. Arevon developed the project and will own and operate the facility.
Arevon signed a long-term contract back in 2021 under which the Nighthawk Energy Storage Project will provide energy and resource adequacy to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). The project will connect to the grid at the Sycamore Canyon Substation located on the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, which distributes energy to the greater San Diego area.

In addition, Arevon has partnered with the Poway Fire Department, who is committed to protecting the community, first responders, and the facility in the unlikely event an incident occurs," said Arevon's Chief Executive Officer at Arevon. "Battery storage is the way of the future, and Arevon is pleased to bring this essential energy solution to Poway, where we are committed to being a great community partner through the project's multi-decade life."
