Oglethorpe Power Announces Selection of Kiewit Subsidiary as EPC Partner for New 1,425-MW Combined-cycle Facility in Georgia

LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

Meta Announces Up to 6.6 GW of Nuclear Projects to Power American AI

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Conectiv Backs Out of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling

LCG, July 10, 2000--Conectiv Inc., the Delaware-based electric and gas company, said in an announcement this morning that it is getting out of the plumbing, heating and cooling business and plans to stick to the merchant energy and power delivery game.The company said it is also seeking a partner for its telecommunications business.In 1996, Conectiv acquired Delcard Associates Inc., a mechanical contractor located in Wilmington and Milford, Del., and in 1999 it bought Frey Lutz Corp. of Lancaster, Pa., also a plumbing, heating and cooling contractor. Those two firms have been sold back to their original owners.During its rush to build its Conectiv Services unit into a full-service heating and cooling business, the utility also acquired another 19 firms. The announcement did not say what would happen to them.Howard E. Cosgrove, Conectivs chief executive, said We believe that the original owners were logical buyers, given their involvement, experience and knowledge of the customers and the employees. The proceeds will be redeployed into our core businesses.Speaking for the plumbers, Rick Treml, president of Delcard, said ``We are glad we had the opportunity to purchase our businesses back. We are especially proud to be able to call ourselves by our former names that had established such good will throughout the industry prior to being acquired byConectiv.Financial details of the transactions were not disclosed.
