LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

Four Big Utilities to Form Internet Transmission Market
LCG, July 18, 2000--Four major electric utilities yesterday announced plans to launch an independent, Internet-based electric transmission exchange that offers a single gateway, or portal, for arranging transmission capacity.American Electric Power Co. Inc., Carolina Power & Light Co., Duke Energy Corp. and Unicom Corp. said they would introduce "an easier, faster way to reserve, schedule and move wholesale energy."The companies said the transmission exchange will be open for use by any group in the energy industry, including power marketers, merchant generators, electric utilities, municipalities, electric cooperatives and energy aggregators. The also expect independent system operators and other regional transmission organizations to use the exchange. Currently, transmission providers frequently use a commercial bulletin board called an Open-Access Same-Time Information System, or OASIS, to post approved transmission reservations and available transfer capacity. More than 170 OASIS sites exist across the United States and multiple transactions are often required before a customer can ultimately move energy."The OASIS systems in operation today are almost four years old, difficult to use, and are limited interms of the information that can be posted on them," said Vito Stagliano, vice president of transmission policy, planning and service with Unicom. "This venture will develop a next generation system marketable to newly forming regional transmission organizations that are expected to emerge as a result of FERC Order 2000."The companies said the transmission exchange is in the formative stages, focused on defining what it will offer and selecting the technical means to put it together. The Boston Consulting Group has been selected to assist in the development of the exchange and the selection of the technology provider.If all goes well, the new transmission exchange would become operational by the end of this year.
