LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Orion Power to Boost Output at NYC Plant
LCG, Sept. 5, 2000Orion Power Holdings said on Friday it had filed preliminary paperwork with New York regulators for plans to repower the Astoria Generating Station it purchased from Consolidated Edison Co. of New York.An Orion subsidiary, Astoria Generating Co., would replace four large (and old) boilers with natural gas-fired turbines. If approved, the work will increase Astoria's output by 750 megawatts."Upon completion of the repowering project, the Astoria Generating Station, which currently is capable of producing 1,090 megawatts of electric power, will produce approximately 1,840 megawatts," said Liam Baker, Orion manager of asset development. "Moreover, air emissions and East River water usage will be substantially reduced from current levels."Orion said it expects the conversion to require an investment of about $750 million. If approved, the changeover would be done in two phases, coming on-line in mid-2004 and late 2005.Orion Power Holdings is a subsidiary of Constellation Energy Group Inc. and sister company to Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.
