X-energy and Dow Submit Application to the NRC to Construct an Advanced Nuclear Project in Texas

LCG, March 31, 2025--Dow and X-Energy Reactor Company, LLC ("X-energy") today announced the submission of a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC") for a proposed advanced nuclear project in Seadrift, Texas. The proposed advanced small modular reactor ("SMR") project could begin construction later this decade and commence operations early next decade.

Avangrid's 238-MW True North Solar Project Achieves Commercial Operation

LCG, March 27, 2025--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that its True North Solar project, located in Falls County, Texas, has achieved commercial operation. The True North Solar project will deliver electricity into ERCOT and support Meta's operations, including Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center in Texas.

Arthur W. Adelberg, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Energy East Corp., has retired. He had been executive vice president and chief financial officer of Central Maine Power Co. when it was acquired by New York State Electric & Gas Co., the merger that resulted in Energy East.

Elizabeth Bush Higgins has been promoted to vice president by Oglethorpe Power Corp. and will head its newly created corporate strategy and member services unit. She joined Oglethorpe in 1997, building on a career in consulting.

Laura L. Langer has joined PG&E Corp. as vice president for risk management. She moves to the utility holding company from Deloitte & Touche, where she was a senior manager in the accounting firm's energy transacting and risk management division.

Louise McCarren has been elected a director of ISO New England Inc., succeeding Charles G. Stalon who has retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age and serving out a three-year term. McCarren is president and chief executive of the Vermont business unit of Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic.

Laurie M. Sherwood has been promoted to vice president and treasurer by Atmos Energy Corp. effective October 1. Before joining Atmos in May of last year, she was manager of corporate finance with Oryx Energy Co. in Dallas.

Edison International Announces Promotions, New Hire
The Edison International Inc. board of directors last week made the following elections:

  • Thomas J. Higgins, vice president for corporate relations, becomes senior vice president for corporate relations and will remain president of Edison Enterprises and chief executive officer of Edison O&M Services.

  • Jo Ann Goddard, is promoted to vice president for investor relations. She most recently was director of Southern California Edison Co.'s investor relations and shareholder services group.

  • Pedro J. Pizarro, director of strategic planning, becomes vice president for technology business development.

  • Beverly P. Ryder becomes vice president for community involvement and will retain her responsibilities as corporate secretary of SoCal Edison and the parent holding company.

  • Andrea L. Simpson, vice president for corporate relations with San Antonio-based Tesoro Petroleum, joins Edison International as vice president for corporate communications.

Tucson Electric and Affiliates Make Changes
UniSource Energy Corp. and its operating utility, Tucson Electric Power Co., have announced a series of promotions and reassignments aimed at supporting its Advanced Energy Technologies affiliate.

  • Ira R. Adler, currently executive vice president and chief financial officer of UniSource Energy and Tucson Electric Power, will become president and chief executive officer of Global EnergySolutions.

  • Kevin P. Larson, currently vice president, finance, and treasurer of Tucson Electric Power, will become vice president and chief financial officer of both UniSource Energy and Tucson ElectricPower.

  • Steven J. Glaser, currently vice president of Energy Services at Tucson Electric Power, will become senior vice president and chief operating officer of Tucson Electric's transmission and distributionunit.

  • Michael J. DeConcini, currently vice president at UniSource Energy Corp., will become senior vice president of strategic planning and investments at UniSource Energy.

  • Dennis R. Nelson, currently senior vice president and general counsel, will become senior vice president and chief operating officer of Tucson Electric Power's electric generation unit.

  • Vincent Nitido, currently vice president and assistant general counsel of Tucson Electric Power, will become vice president and general counsel of both UniSource Energy and Tucson Electric Power.
