LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

California Energy Commission Acts on Two Plant Proposals
LCG, Jan. 11, 2001The California Energy Commission said yesterday it had taken action on two proposals that would expand production of existing power plants by 620 megawatts.By a unanimous vote at yesterday's business meeting, the commission began a formal review process for a plan by Duke Energy Corp. to replace the 50-year-old equipment at its 1,030 megawatt Morro Bay plant with modern generating equipment capable of producing 1,200 megawatts of power.Duke first indicated its desire to upgrade Morro Bay, which it purchased from Pacific Gas & Electric Co., in the summer of 1999.Also unanimously, the commission voted to ask AES Corp. for more information about its plans to add 450 megawatts of capacity to the Huntington Beach Generating Station it purchased from Southern California Edison Co.AES first broached the idea of the upgrade last month.
