LCG, March 31, 2025--Dow and X-Energy Reactor Company, LLC ("X-energy") today announced the submission of a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC") for a proposed advanced nuclear project in Seadrift, Texas. The proposed advanced small modular reactor ("SMR") project could begin construction later this decade and commence operations early next decade.

LCG, March 27, 2025--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that its True North Solar project, located in Falls County, Texas, has achieved commercial operation. The True North Solar project will deliver electricity into ERCOT and support Meta's operations, including Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center in Texas.

Panda Plans 1,300 Megawatts for West Point, Texas
LCG, Jan. 12, 2001--Panda Energy International, Inc. yesterday announced the development of a $400 million, 1,300 megawatt merchant electric power plant in West Point, Texas, called the Panda Black Prairie Project. Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2002 and will take about 18 months.City officials stated the plant will add at least $2.9 million to the tax base, $1.2 million of which will be earmarked for the West Point Public School District.About 500 jobs and an estimated payroll of $50 million will be created during the construction period, the company said. When the plant goes into service in 2004, it will employ 45 people with over $2 million in annual payroll. Panda said it is committed to searching the local area for qualified employees before going outside the state.West Point Mayor Kenny Dill said "The tax dollars Panda generates will help us improve roads and infrastructure, and enable our school system to add programs and facilities that otherwise would not have been possible.''Dr. Randy Hamblin, West Point schools superintendent, was no less enthusiastic. "I understand that Panda Energy has long been a supporter of public education in the communities in which they are located, he said. "We are looking forward to having a good relationship with them here, as well."
