Williams Unit Gas Reserves Stay Ahead of Use

LCG, Jan. 31, 2001The exploration and production unit of The Williams Cos. said this morning that it had replaced by 329 percent the amount of natural gas taken from its reserves in 2000.

The company reported year-end 2000 proved natural gas reserves of 1.20 trillion cubic feet (Tcf)equivalent, compared with year-end 1999 reserves of 1.05 Tcf equivalent while producing in 2000 65.6 billion cubic feet equivalent, which represents a 13 percent increase over the prior year.

Bryan Guderian, vice president of exploration and production, said, "We're continuing to make greatstrides in our exploration and production business. Last year was another record year for us. We achieved record levels for both reserves and production. With our large inventory of low-riskdevelopment opportunities, we have an excellent platform for sustained growth."

Williams said it plans to participate in more than 300 wells this year, which would set a drilling record for the company. The developments are concentrated in Wyoming's Green River Basin and New Mexico's San Juan Basin, the company said.

Williams' exploration and production unit primarily drills for natural gas in the northern Rockies, NewMexico's San Juan Basin and onshore along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast.
