LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

Both utilities are operating subsidiaries of Progress Energy Inc.R. Foster Duncan has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cinergy Corp., succeeding Charles Winger who will remain vice president for corporate development. Duncan, who most recently was executive vice president and chief financial officer of LG&E Energy Corp. in Louisville, Ky., will assume his new post on Monday.George W. Sarney, chairman of Spirent plc of the United Kingdom, has been elected a director of Consolidated Edison Inc. and a member of the board of trustees of Consolidated Edison Co. of New York. C. Philip Saunders has been named a senior vice president of Southern Company Services and chief information officer for The Southern Co. He most recently was chief commercial officer of Mirant Europe (formerly Southern Energy Europe) and was supply director South Western Electricity in England.
