LCG, February 2, 2026--Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced today that construction on the four-unit Darlington Refurbishment project is now complete. Station staff are completing final testing, and the last unit is expected to return to service in the coming weeks. OPG stated that the overall project is currently four months ahead of schedule and $150 million under budget.

Perry Nuke Completes Best-ever Refueling in 34 Days
LCG, March 26, 2001--First Energy Nuclear Operating Co. said Friday that operators at its Perry nuclear power plant had returned the facility to service that morning, completing the shortest refueling in the plant's 13-year history.First Energy said the refueling was done in 34 days, shaving three days off the previous best of 37 days set in May 1999. The 1,320 megawatt reactor was operating at 29 percent of capacity this morning, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's daily plant status report. First Energy said output would be gradually increased to 100 percent over the next week or so.During the outage, major work included replacing 304, or about 40 percent, of the plant's 748 fuel assemblies. The new fuel assemblies are equivalent to more than 75,000 train carloads of coal, the company said. One of the turbine rotors also was modified, allowing for increased power output of 5 percent."Our employees met the challenge of safely completing an ambitious work schedule," said JohnWood, site vice president at Perry. "Our team did the right work at the right time to help ensure Perryremains a top performer in the areas of safety and operations."During its last cycle of 655 days, Perry missed only 11 days' work, posting a 98.2 percent capacity factor.
