X-energy and Dow Submit Application to the NRC to Construct an Advanced Nuclear Project in Texas

LCG, March 31, 2025--Dow and X-Energy Reactor Company, LLC ("X-energy") today announced the submission of a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC") for a proposed advanced nuclear project in Seadrift, Texas. Avangrid's 238-MW True North Solar Project Achieves Commercial Operation

LCG, March 27, 2025--Avangrid, Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that its True North Solar project, located in Falls County, Texas, has achieved commercial operation. The True North Solar project will deliver electricity into ERCOT and support Meta's operations, including Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center in Texas.

AES Moves on Oman Power-Desalination Plant

LCG, May 7, 2001AES Corp. said Friday that an ad hoc subsidiary has secured $348.6 million in bank financing for a project in Oman that will provide 20 million gallons per day of desalinated water and 427 megawatts of electric power.

AES has an 85 percent interest in the project, AES Barka SAOC, with Multitech, a local partner owning the balance. ANZ Investment Bank and Arab Banking Corp. acted as lead arrangers on the financing, which is subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions precedent.

The power facility is being designed and built by a consortium of Enelpower SpA of Italy and Hitachi Zosen of Japan. AES said it expects the final notice to proceed will be issued on June 1 and has scheduled commercial operations for April 2003.

The electrical and water output from the facility will be sold to the Omani Ministry of Electricity and Water under a 15 year power and water purchase agreement. Gas will be supplied by the Ministry of Gasunder a 15 year natural gas supply agreement.

Venu Nambiar, project director of AES Barka, said, "Work by our contractor is on schedule and we now have completed our bank financing. We expect to produce competitively priced power and water in time for the peak summer of 2003. Since Barka will be among the lowest cost producers in Oman, we believe we can serve electric and water customers competitively for decades to come."
