LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Exploding Manholes Disrupt Part of Nation's Capital
LCG, June 14, 2001Morning shoppers in the fashionable Georgetown section of Washington, D.C., were dismayed today, but not surprised, to see at least a half-dozen manholes on M Street, the main street of the upscale area, spewing fire and smoke.They were not surprised because the same thing happened yesterday and three times in May. In contrast to last month's manhole explosions, the cast iron manhole covers did not fly into the air, but that's not because of decreasing violence within the subterranean chambers.The old manhole covers were replaced with a new, cutting edge model that is slotted to allow exploding pressures to escape to the atmosphere. The manholes and their contents are owned by Potomac Electric Power Co., or Pepco as the utility is called locally.At 8:30 PDT today, almost noon in Washington, M Street was closed from Wisconsin Avenue to 28th Street to allow Pepco crews to inspect the cables within the manholes and make needed repairs. The street, a major commute route in and out of the federal district, will be closed throughout this evening's rush hour.Yesterday, in mid-afternoon, the latest problems became evident when fire and smoke shot from the manholes. Stores and restaurants were evacuated and about 1,500 commercial customers were without power until late in the evening. The same customers are affected by today's problems."It's just one disaster after another," Dan Crockett, president of a Georgetown consumers group, told the Washington Post. "It's a frustration for the residents and it's a frustration for the businesses here."Peter LaPorte, head of the District of Columbia Emergency Management Agency, said "We're all sick and tired of this."Pepco spokesman Bob Dobkin said "We're trying to do a damage assessment."
