LCG, June 4, 2025--Energy Vault Holdings Inc. (Energy Vault) and Jupiter Power (Jupiter) today announced the signing of an agreement for the supply of an additional battery energy storage system (BESS) at a Jupiter site in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. The initial BESS project, located near Fort Stockton, Texas, was completed in July 2024, with a storage capacity 100 MW/200 MWh. The new BESS project will add another 100 MW/200 MWh of capacity. Construction has commenced, and the project is expected to achieve commercial operations by the end of this summer.

LCG, May 30, 2025--NuScale Power Corporation (NuScale), a leading provider of advanced small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology, yesterday announced that it has received design approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its uprated 77 MW power modules. NuScale states that it remains the only SMR technology company with design approval from the NRC, and the company remains on track for deployment by 2030, with 50- and 77-MW SMR options.

Close Delayed on Two NRG Energy Plant Acquisitions
LCG, July 26, 2001-- NRG Energy Inc. said this morning that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has instructed its staff to convene a technical conference to "further explore issues related to the competitive effects" resulting from NRG's proposed acquisition of the Bridgeport and New Haven Harbor Stations in Connecticut.The order directs FERC staff to report back to the Commission within 90 days after exploring "issues regarding market power concerns."NRG has planned extensive emissions upgrades to the 660 megawatt Bridgeport plant and the 460 megawatt New Haven station, both of which it is buying from United Illuminating Co. FERC's action will delay closing the transaction beyond this summer, the original target of the companies, NRG said."Upon review of the FERC order received yesterday, it is clear some issues have yet to be resolved. However, NRG is confident the FERC will ultimately approve the transaction," said Craig A. Mataczynski, chief executive of NRG North America."Connecticut will benefit from this acquisition as it will help to ensure a healthy fuel diversity within New England's power grid so that affordable, reliable and environmentally responsible electricity is available when and where it is needed," he added.Mataczynski said his company plans significant cuts in emission from both plants. , "NRG remains committed to reducing sulphur emissions at the New Haven facility by 50 percent and, after installing additional environmental controls, reducing sulphur emissions by more than 90 percent at the Bridgeport Harbor facility," he said.The transaction also requires approval by the U.S. Department of Justice.
