LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Jersey Town Okays Con Edison 500 Megawatter
LCG, Aug. 30, 2001--The power project development unit of Consolidated Edison Inc. said yesterday that it had received unanimous approval from the planning board of the south central New Jersey city of Lakewood for a 500 megawatt peaking power plant to be built in the community.Con Edison Development said in a news release that its Ocean Peaking Power unit would invest about $220 million in the natural gas-fueled project, which will be built adjacent to a 236 megawatt cogeneration plant owned by another affiliate in Lakewood.The new peaking plant is expected to operate only during periods of highest demand, or about 1,000 hours per year, the company said.Con Edison Development said it would begin construction on the plant later this year, but did not venture a prediction of when it would begin commercial operation.
