Plug Power Expands Deals with GE, DTE

LCG, Aug. 30, 2001--Plug Power Inc. announced today that it has finalized new agreements with GE Fuel Cell Systems, GE MicroGen Inc., GE Power Systems Equities and DTE Energy Technologies in line with deals worked out earlier this year.

Under the new agreement, GE Fuel Cell Systems' exclusive, worldwide distribution rights are expanded to include the full range of Plug Power's stationary proton exchange membrane fuel cell systems where the previous agreement excluded fuel cell systems greater than 35 kilowatts and systems designed for uninterruptible power supply applications.

That agreement isn't quite worldwide, in that it excludes a four-state territory served by DTE.

As part of the GE deal, Plug Power has increased its ownership in GE Fuel Cell Systems to 40 percent from its previous 25 percent and, in return, will grant GE Power Systems Equities options to purchase 725,000 shares of Plug Power common stock.

Plug Power said it also completed a separate agreement with DTE Energy Technologies expanding their exclusive distribution rights within the states of Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. Under the agreement, DTE will market and distribute all sizes of Plug Power's stationary fuel cell systems for use in any power application, except for propulsion.
