LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Calpine Completes Acquisition of Westcoast Energy Plants
LCG, Sept. 24, 2001--Calpine Corp. said on Friday its wholly owned subsidiary Canada Power Holdings Ltd. has completed the acquisition and assumed operations of two Canadian cogeneration plants from British Columbia-based Westcoast Energy Inc.The acquisition adds 275 net megawatts of strategic natural gas-fired generation to Calpine's Canadian power portfolio. Calpine said it paid about $255 million (U.S.) for the plants.The acquisition gives Calpine 100 percent interest in the Island Cogeneration facility, a 250 megawatt natural gas-fired electric plant located near Campbell River, British Columbia on Vancouver Island.The plant, which is nearly completed, will deliver electricity to BC Hydro under the terms of a 20-year agreement and will also provide process steam to a nearby industrial concern under a 15-year contract.Calpine also acquired a 50 percent interest in and assumed operations of the 50-megawatt Whitby Cogeneration plant, which provides power to Ontario Energy Financial Corporation, formerly Ontario Hydro, under the terms of a 20-year agreement. Located in Whitby, Ontario, the plant entered commercial operations in September 1998 and provides steam to a packaging firm.
