LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Bangladesh Scientist Generates Free Power
LCG, Sept. 24, 2001--A scientist in Bangladesh said yesterday he has developed a technology to generate electric power at no cost, according to a report in yesterday's edition of The Independent, a Bangladesh newspaper."The system will not require any external fuel and once started the plant will not require any recurring cost," Dr. Abdul Khaleque, a natural scientist, told the global journalists conference on climate change, sea level rise and water management in Dacca.Not only would the power be free, Khaleque said, the plant to make it would cost only one-fourth what it would cost to build a conventional power plant with the same output. And Khaleque's plant would not cause any adverse impact on the environment, he said.Free, clean power -- that ought to please both consumer advocates and environmentalists.Khaleque, a faculty member of London University in England, said his technology was based on some basic principles of science to multiply the force or power, but was sketchy on the details, saying he had submitted his invention for international patent in Geneva, which was expected to record it in next 28 months to be disclosed for commercial use.But he said that if one megawatt or unit of power was provided in the input of the system, it will generate 10 megawatts in the output and under a built-in mechanism one megawatt electricity would be diverted to the input again continuously for constant running of the plant.Perpetual motion? Haven't we been here before?"I am just a scientist," Khaleque explained.
