LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Ronnie Bates has been named senior vice president for marketing by Georgia Power Co., a subsidiary of the Southern Co. He replaces Bertram Sears, who resigned to lead his own business. Bates joined Southern in 1975 as a mechanic's helper and was most recently vice president for transmission with Georgia Power.Mark W. Marano has been named president and chief executive of AEP Gas Power Systems, a recently- formed joint venture between American Electric Power Co. Inc. and G.A.S. Gas Capital Inc. He joins AEP Gas Power Systems from AEP subsidiary Numanco Group in Tulsa, Okla., a provider of specialized technical support services to the U.S. commercial nuclear industry, wherehe served as president and chief executive officer.Richard N. Marshall has been named treasurer and director of investor relations by natural gas firm Southern Union Co. A 15-year veteran of the company, he most recently was vice president for rates and regulatory affairs.
