LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

National Guard to Protect Pilgrim Nuclear Plant
LCG, Oct. 22, 2001--Massachusetts National Guard troops this morning mounted perimeter security at the Pilgrim nuclear power plant in Plymouth in response to a request by state Sen. Therese Murray to acting Gov. Jane Swift.''There have been no threats at Pilgrim,'' press secretary James Borghesani said. ''But we are always willing to accommodate the requests of local officials whenever we can.''Swift has already deployed National Guard military police to some other around the state, including bridges, a reservoir and airports.Some state officials are considering even stronger defensive measures, such as batteries of antiaircraft missiles and no-fly zones around New England's nuclear power plants. "We should look at them, absolutely" said state Rep. Vinny M. deMacedo said yesterday.Massachusetts joins New York, New Jersey and Vermont in calling out National Guard troops to provide security at nuclear power plants.Murray, who lives near Pilgrim, has asked both the Federal Aviation Administration and the nuclear Regulatory Commission to restrict the airspace over the plant. A no-fly zone over the plant would require Logan International Airport to establish new flight patterns for jetliners serving the Boston area.U.S. Reps William Delahunt and Edward Markey of Massachusetts have made requests similar to Murray's and Gov. Howard Dean of Vermont has asked for a no-fly zone to be created over the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.The FAA said that creating no-fly zones over nuclear power plants would require that all 103 of the nation's commercial nuclear reactors be pinpointed on aeronautical charts -- information that could be useful to terrorists planning assaults.National Guard troops arrived at Pilgrim this morning, relieving state troopers on perimeter guard duty.
