LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

E·on Boosts Ruhrgas Stake to 34 Percent
LCG, Nov. 1, 2001--Big German utility Eon has increased its stake in Ruhrgas, Germany's biggest natural gas importer and distributor, to about 34 percent with the purchase of a 23.6 percent interest in Bergemann, another large Ruhrgas shareholder.Eon had already attracted the attention of the German Federal Cartel Office, which is investigating the company's earlier purchase of a 25.5 per cent stake in Ruhrgas.The acquisition of a portion of Bergemann gives Eon 23.6 percent of that company's 33 percent interest in Ruhrgas, bringing Eon's effective interest in Ruhrgas to 33.9 per cent.The Cartel Office is concerned about the possibility of market abuse by Eon because of its growing control of the largest German gas importer while it also is a large retailer of natural gas. Eon has about 35 percent of the German retail gas market through its ownership of municipal energy providers and stakes in Contigas and Thuga.
