LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Kuwait's Parliament Slows Emergency Power Projects
LCG, Feb. 13, 2002--The Kuwaiti parliament made the awarding of contracts for power plant construction subject to normal review procedures on Tuesday, rather than allow Electricity Ministry representatives to award contracts themselves.$425 million worth of contracts were being considered in order to protect the country against possible shortages in 2003. Western executives consider the processing and review of contracts by the Central Tender Committee (CTC) to be an extended procedure.Companies such as Siemens AG, General Electric, Alstom SA and Mitsubishi have already submitted bids for a gas turbine project worth approximately $400 million. The parliament is not altogether comfortable with state contracts that are not subject to traditional review, however.The Electricity Minister Talal al-Ayar made a statement to the parliament that the ministry panel charged with approving power projects was in place "for the urgent necessity to implement projects to meet the country's future power needs."The country experienced nine percent growth in power demand in 1999, and hopes to procure 1,000 megawatts in new capacity by 2004. Summer temperatures in the shade can reach 125 degrees Fahrenheit (50 Celsius).
