PUC of Texas Approves Entergy Texas' Plans to Build Over 1,200 MW of Gas-Fired Capacity

LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

Puget Sound Energy Starts Construction on 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project in Washington

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Corbin McNeill, Jr. will retire as chairman and co-chief executive of Exelon Corp. on April 23. He will be succeeded by John Rowe, who has served as Exelon's co-CEO and president. Rowe will become the sole chief executive and chairman. McNeill supervised the merger of PECO Energy Company and Unicom Corporation, and had been scheduled to step down as chairman this spring.

Steve Wright has been made administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration today. Wright, who has been with the BPA for 21 years, returned to the Portland headquarters from the Washington office as a corporate senior vice president in 1998, becoming deputy administrator in 2000.

Marcus Jackson, president and chief executive of Semco Energy has been named chairman of the company following the retirement of William Johnson on Thursday.

Dan W. Reicher, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Energy for energy efficiency and renewable energy has been named executive vice president of Northern Power Systems, which specializes in renewable energy and distributed generation. As Assistant Secretary of Energy from 1997 to 2001, Reicher was in charge of $1.2 billion worth of renewable and efficiency projects annually.

Ade Musell will be succeeded by Ron Larson as president and CEO when Mussell retires this spring from Split Rock Energy, LLC. Larson is currently chief financial officer for Great River Energy, a generation and transmission cooperative headquartered in Elk River. Split Rock Energy LLC was formed by Minnesota Power and Great River Energy to mitigate the companies' risk in the wholesale energy market.

Brad Johnson has been appointed treasurer for WPS Resources and Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, its primary utility subsidiary. Johnson also handled tax and corporate planning issues within the company. Dennis Maki, has been promoted to General Manager - Regional Generation and Engineering Services for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. Maki was formerly Weston Power Plant Manager.
