LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Russia will Finish Iranian Reactor
LCG, March 27, 2002-Russian Nuclear officals announce that Russia will complete an Iranian nuclear plant.The U.S. government has repeatedly advised Russia to discontinue the project because it fears that nuclear power will give the Iranians an opportunity to develop nuclear weapons. However, the Russians have decided to go through with their 1995 contract and plan to complete the plant by 2005. Russian Nuclear Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev insists there is no danger of nuclear weapons development because the plant will be inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the technology involved could only be used in energy production. He added that new laws passed last year permitted spent fuel to return to Russia. Nuclear fuel would also be provided to the Bushehr plant by Russia.Russia recently reestablished nuclear fuel sales to the U.S. and has talked with North Korea regarding nuclear plant development.
