LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

OPEC Pressures Russia on Oil Production
LCG, March 18, 2002-With a sluggish world demand for oil, OPEC is concerned that Russia, as the world's second largest oil exporter, will not limit its oil production.The International Energy Agency (IEA) changed its forecast for growth in worldwide oil demand from 500,000 to 420,000 barrels per day, 0.55 percent of the world's total of 76 million barrels a day.Russia promised to decrease its first quarter production by 150,000 barrels per day, although exports were reportedly up 940,000 barrels per day in February. OPEC has demanded that Russia continue limiting its oil production in the second quarter, but Russian officials do not want to lose market share or give up revenues that the struggling country needs. Experts say that Russia's mostly private industry may export more oil than reported even if the Russian government vows to limit production. OPEC secretary general Ali Rodriguez and president Rilwanu Lukman could not convince Russian officials to devote themselves to future agreements with OPEC, although Russia avoided rejecting Opecs demands outright.
