LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Exelon Chooses Illinois Nuke Site
LCG, April 30, 2002--Exelon Generation announced today that it will apply for an early nuclear site permit. The company is considering Clinton nuclear power station, located in De Witt County, Illinois, as a possible site for new nuclear generation, although Exelon has not announced any particulars with regard to type of generator. The site was initially planned to accommodate two reactors but only has one, which provides 950 MW capacity. Exelon had already announced that it planned to apply for a nuclear power station permit, but until today the company had not discussed the location of the prospective plant. An early site permit will allow the option of constructing for up to 20 years without detailing the type of reactor. The application will require 18 to 30 months to review and approve. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will receive the application and assess safety, environmental factors, and emergency preparedness of the potential site according to new and as yet untried guidelines. Exelon owns and operates seventeen nuclear reactors nationwide and has recently exited an international group developing pebble bed modular reators.
