LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Large Windfarm Cancelled by Air Force
LCG, July 19, 2002--A 600-megawatt windfarm that had been under development consideration by MNS Windpower, a California company, Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., and the Nevada Test Site Development Corporation, will not proceed to construction, due to possible interference it could have caused with military testing, research and training within the Nevada Test Site.Plans for the project had been underway for two years. Officials at the Nellis Air Force Base raised objections to interference with radar signals, leading the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Nevada Operations Office to terminate the siting process for the project, which would have meant the construction of up to 545 wind turbines over an area of 1,069 acres.Kathleen Carlson, of the federal NNSA Nevada Operations Office, said, "We had clearly hoped this project could come to fruition. However, we must support the mission requirements of the Air Force to train, test and develop tactics in an unfettered environment.The Nevada Test Site Development Corporation is a nonprofit corporation that supports coordinated development of science and technology in Nevada with the Department of Energy. The area up for consideration for the windfarm included Shoshone Peak, a windy location approximately 85 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Activity originating with the Nellis Air Force Base includes training missions in which pilots fly through the Nevada Testing Site.
