LCG, Mar. 24, 2003--Sagebrush Power Partners LLC is applying to the Washington State Energy Site Evaluation Council for approval to build a wind farm with 182 megawatts of capacity in Kittitas County. The application to build 121 turbines of 249 feet in height, with 197-foot rotor diameters, was submitted in January. In order to transmit the power to high-voltage lines, Sagebrush, which is a subsidiary of Zilkha Renewable Energy, would build 23 miles of power lines underground and an additional 2 miles of line overhead. The site within which the project would be built is a 90-acre property owned by private interests, or Washington's Department of Natural Resources. The turbines would be located on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains, where wind speeds favor wind-powered generation.
