LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

FERC Issues Ruling on Midwest ISO Transmission Request Processing
LCG, Jan. 31, 2003--A complaint by Tenaska Inc. over a rejected offer to purchase long-term transmission rights from the Midwest Independent System Operator should be considered again under a revised framework, the Federal Energy Regultory Commission (FERC) ruled yesterday.The Midwest ISO, which said that opting to allow a purchase of short-term transmission rights by other buyers instead was done on a first-come, first-served basis, controls grid access over an area that includes 15 states, and part of Canada. The position of Tenaska was backed by Dynegy Inc., Reliant Resources and Public Service Enterprise Group Inc.The transmission access in question is around the Michigan-Ontario border. The FERC ruling stated, "This order benefits customers by providing certainty to Midwest ISO's customers concerning the processing of long-term firm transmission service requests." The ISO was directed to change its tariff within 30 days, and adopt a new method of responding to requests.
