LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

South East Asian Association Discusses Transnational Energy Plans
LCG, July 3, 2003ASEAN, the Association of South East Asian Nations, met over the last few days and discussed a plan for a transnational electricity supply grid already falling into place. Energy and industry government officials from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, met and discussed several issues including a proposed transnational transmission system. With international transmission capability, Thailand could sell its surplus electricity to Myanmar, and Laos would be able to sell electricity to Cambodia. Indonesia, as the world's fourth most populous country, could also better meet its electricity needs since it lacks capacity in some more rural areas. ASEAN has three transmission projects now in operation, as well as eight under construction, and some in planning stages. The nations plan to have 14 transmission projects completed and operating by 2020. Lines in operation at this point are Peninsula Malaysia-Singapore, Thailand-Peninsula Malaysia, and Thailand-Laos. The Secretary General of ASEAN, Ong Keng Yong, noted that the transmission plans may only benefit a few of the Associations nations, specifically Cambodia, Myanmar, and Indonesia. However, those selling power to these three nations should also benefit from the transmission grid as they can dispose of excess capacity and perhaps make some profit as well. The recent meeting also established an energy-related advisory body, the ASEAN Gas Consultative Council (AGCC), and served in advancing evaluation of several energy issues, including gas pipelines and the fossil fuel market.
