LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

EU Report Will Focus on Boosting Investment
LCG, Dec. 1, 2003--The European Commission is set to release a set of laws aimed at encouraging electric generation investment and a competitive power marketplace, according to draft documents obtained by Dow Jones Newswires.The final versions of the proposed laws will be released Wednesday, and will have arrived after a summer in which outages cut power to millions of European citizens. The proposals call for incentives or forms of guaranteed return to achieve necessary investment in transmission grid infrastructure, and in power plants to meet projected growth in power demand. The documents suggest that penalties could be invoked for failure to meet reliability standards, or for delays in implementing system upgrades.The proposals by the executive body of the European Union will only become law if governments vote in favor of them. Switzerland and Italy lost power this summer when connections between the countries shorted out. Denmark and the United Kingdom also experienced blackouts that affected their capital cities. According to deregulation plans that have already been moved up in time, businesses in the EU will have the ability to choose their power suppliers in July 2004.
