LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Midwest ISO Announces Grid Monitoring System
LCG, Jan. 15, 2004--A new computer system that uses data from tens of thousands of points on the transmission system across the Midwest and beyond has been installed by the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, Inc. (MISO), the grid manager said today.The computer system not only takes data every thirty seconds from 30,000 busses, but also from 87,000 Inter Control Center Protocol (ICCP) locations. Calculations based on the readings provide contingency analyses, which are necessary should a failure take place on a vulnerable part of the grid.Manitoba, Canada, Pennsylvania and Tennessee are among those areas that feed data into the State Estimator model. James P. Torgerson, president and CEO of the MISO, said in a statement, "Implementation of the State Estimator model is a key operational milestone that reaffirms our commitment to ensuring the safe and reliable transmission of electricity."
