LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Evergreen Applies for Permits for Maine Wind Farm
LCG, Jan. 28, 2004--Following its testing of various potential locations for a wind farm, Evergreen Wind Power LLC applied for the right to construct thirty-three turbines on Mars Hill Mountain in Maine's Aroostook County, Bangor Daily News reports.The town of Mars Hill was listed as a co-applicant on the project, which Evergreen anticipates could begin producing output by November 2004. If the 1.5-megawatt turbines are built, Evergreen would pay $100,000 per year in rent to landowners. Tax revenue paid to the town could double. A possible stumbling block is the yet-to-be-decided reauthorization of a federal tax credit for wind energy. Without the credit, funding for the project from Fortis Capital Corp. would likely dry up.If the wind project at Mars Hill is built, Evergreen would consider following it up with other installations. Of those locations that have been tested for wind speeds, Mars Hill was found to offer the best site.
