LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

FERC Judge Rules States Cannot Block AEP from PJM
LCG, Mar. 12, 2004--An Administrative Law Judge with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), William Cowan, has issued an order that aims to speed up the entry of American Electric Power Co. (AEP) into the Pennsylvania-Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM), the mid-Atlantic grid administrator.The ruling came as a result of earlier conflicts between FERC's interest in having utilities join regional transmission organization and laws passed by Virginia and Kentucky that are intended to block its entry into PJM. The ruling allows the states to file briefs detailing exceptions to the ruling within 15 days. AEP is now scheduled to make a transition to PJM membership by October.Both Virginia and Kentucky's legislative strategies are based on concerns among regulators and legislators that the inclusion of AEP could raise costs for customers. For its part, FERC feels that open access for suppliers besides established utilities can lower costs.
