LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

Peabody Energy Receives DOE Grant for New Mexico Power Plant
LCG, October 19, 2004--Peabody Energy received a $19.7 million Clean Coal Power Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Energy fordemonstrating technology to achieve ultra-low emissions at the proposed 300 MW Mustang Energy Project located near Peabody's Lee Ranch Coal Company operations in New Mexico.The plant would demonstrate on a commercial scale a technology that operates in a manner similar to a traditional scrubber system. The system will employ sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in the scrubber and is expected to achieve 99.5 percent removal of sulfur dioxide, 98 percent removal of nitrogen oxide and 90 percent removal of mercury. The sulfur and nitrogen byproducts will be used to create high value, granular fertilizer. The plant will use low-NOx burners, fabric filtration and a dry cooling system to minimize emissions and water consumption. The Department of Energy grant will be repaid as the technology is demonstrated.Peabody's announcement did not include a target operational date or information regarding buyers of the plants output.
