PUC of Texas Approves Entergy Texas' Plans to Build Over 1,200 MW of Gas-Fired Capacity

LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

Puget Sound Energy Starts Construction on 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project in Washington

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

APS Issues RFP for Over 1,000 MW of Long-Term Power Supplies

LCG, June 1, 2005--Arizona Public Service Company (APS) announced yesterday a Request for Proposal (RFP) for at least 1,000 MW of long-term energy resources for delivery beginning between June 2007 and June 2008. APS is forecasting customer growth of almost four percent per year and projects a need for an additional electric generating capacity in 2007 of about 1,300 MW.

APS, Arizona's largest electric utility, is requesting summer capacity for a period of not less than five years and a minimum capacity of 25 MW. A bidder's conference for interested parties will be held June 15, and responses to the RFP are due July 18, 2005. APS is the largest subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp., and APS affiliates will not participate in the RFP.

APS also recently issued an RFP for renewable energy supplies totaling at least 100 MW and at least 250,000 MWh per year for a period of not less than five years with deliveries beginning in 2006.
