LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

SCANA and Santee Cooper Select Site and Vendor for New Nuclear Plant
LCG, February 10, 2006--Santee Cooper and South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) announced today that they have selected the jointly-owned, V.C. Summer Nuclear Station site near Jenkinsville, South Carolina as the preferred site to build new, nuclear generating facilities to serve the growing needs of their customers. The companies also announced the selection of Westinghouse Electric Company's AP1000 pressurized water reactor technology.Santee Cooper, a state-owned utility, and SCE&G, a subsidiary of SCANA Corporation, jointly own the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station, which began operation in 1982 and has an existing capacity of 1,000 MW. The companies announced in August 2005 plans to extend their existing nuclear generation joint ownership arrangement to study the construction of a new nuclear generation facility. In December, the companies filed a letter of intent with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding their plans to to submit a joint application for a combined construction and operating license (COL) for a new nuclear plant.The COL application will incorporate plans to construct two, 1,100-MW reactors. Work on developing the application is underway and is scheduled to be submitted to the NRC in the third quarter of 2007. The companies estimate that, given favorable regulatory approvals and market conditions, construction could begin in 2010, with operations commencing in 2015. SCE&G and Santee Cooper would share ownership and plant output, with SCE&G operating the plant.The NRC approved the Design Certification for the Westinghouse AP1000 standard nuclear plant design on December 30, 2005. The AP1000 reactor incorporates passive safety features that rely upon natural forces and has an electric generating capacity of approximately 1,100 MW. Since receiving NRC approval, the AP1000 has been selected by Duke Power, Southern Company, and Progress Carolinas as the basis for plans to prepare COL applications to construct new nuclear reactors.NuStart Energy Development, LLC, a consortium formed to support the development of new nuclear reactors, plans to use the AP1000 in its application to the NRC for a COL at the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant (owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority) near Scottsboro, Alabama. NuStart also plans to prepare and submit an application incorporating the the General Electric (GE) Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (owned by Entergy Nuclear) in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
