The storage field is sited near Henry Hub and is planned to have connections to five interstate pipelines serving natural gas markets through the eastern United States.

The proposed storage facility would include two salt caverns with a total working gas capacity of 12 Bcf, injection capacity of 900 MMcf/day, and a maximum withdrawal rate of 1,200 MMcf/day. Approvals have been obtained from the state of Louisiana for three brine disposal wells, three cavern wells, two fresh water wells, and 37,880 horsepower electric compressor station, and well drilling is now underway. The initial phase of the project includes pipeline interconnections with Cypress and TETCO.

An open season for the project is planned for next month. The project schedule calls for FERC authorizations by July 15, 2006, with operations commencing in the winter of 2007.

Bobcat Gas Storage is being developed by Port Barre Investments, LLC and its financial sponsor Haddington Energy Partners III LP (HEP), a private equity fund.
