LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

LADWP Board Approves Wind Agreement with PPM
LCG, June 8, 2006--The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Board of Water and Power Commissioners Tuesday approved a long-term agreement with PPM Energy, Inc. (PPM) to purchase 82 MW of wind power annually over the next 16 years.
The energy will be generated at the Pleasant Valley Wind Energy Center, located in Uinta County, Wyoming. LADWP has agreed to pay a fixed amount of $63/megawatt-hour for the term of the agreement, and LADWP estimates that the energy delivered will cost between $236 million and $280 million over the term of the agreement. Power deliveries are to commence July 1, pending approval by the City Council.
The City of Los Angeles has a goal of achieving 20 percent renewables by 2010, and the new agreement will increase the City's renewable energy supply portfolio to about 6.5 percent renewable energy. Two additional renewable wind energy agreements with PPM are expected to be presented for Board and City Council approval in the near future, according to LADWP. These two projects will increase the City?s renewable energy portfolio by another 1.2 percent.
Last November, the LADWP Board approved a deal to acquire the Pine Tree Wind Project located in Kern County, California. The Pine Tree Wind Project, with an electric generating capacity of 120 MW, will be the largest wind farm owned by a municipality in the country. The project will consist of 80, 1.5-MW wind turbines to be provided by GE Energy. The Pine Tree Wind Project will be located about 12 miles north of Mojave, California. The current project schedule is to commence operations in late 2007.
