LCG, January 13, 2026--Oglethorpe Power today announced it has selected Kiewit Corporation through its subsidiary, The Industrial Company (TIC), as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for its new combined-cycle (CC), natural gas-fired power plant in Monroe County, Georgia. The new, 1,425-MW facility represents a capital investment of more than $3 billion. Commercial operation of the new generation capacity is planned to commence in 2029.

LCG, January 9, 2026--Meta today announced new, landmark agreements that will (i) extend and expand the operation of three existing nuclear power plants and (ii) drive the development of advanced nuclear technology. Meta's new agreements with Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo follow Meta's request for proposals (RFP) issued last month. Meta expects these projects to deliver up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean nuclear energy by 2035.

State of Pennsylvania Leads Nation in Green Power Purchases
LCG, August 30, 2006--The State of Pennsylvania announced yesterday that it has doubled its purchases of green electricity and is now the largest state purchaser of green power in the nation. Pennsylvania will now purchase 200 MWh per year of energy from clean, renewable resources that do not produce emissions.
To achieve this status, Pennsylvania modified an existing power purchase agreement with Community Energy, Inc. (CEI). The agreement requires that 40 percent of the power supplied is generated from wind resources and 60 percent is from hydroelectric resources. The annual energy purchase of 200 MWh is equivalent to 20 percent of the state government's electricity requirement, and the energy will be purchased "at a premium rate of only 0.34 cents per kilowatt hour."
CEI was purchased in May 2006 by the Spanish firm, IBERDROLA, an international energy company that owns and operates renewable energy facilities around the world. IBERDROLA is also largest shareholder in the Spanish wind company, Gamesa Corp., which recently chose to base its North American headquarters in Pennsylvania.
