TXU and Airtricity Execute Agreement for Roscoe Wind Farm in Texas

LCG, May 16, 2007--Airtricity, Inc., and TXU Corporation yesterday announced a new, five-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in which TXU Wholesale will purchase the electricity generated from the 209 MW Roscoe Wind Farm, located in Texas about 45 miles southwest of Abilene.

The Roscoe Wind Farm will include 209 Mitsubishi 1000A turbines, each with an electric generating capacity of 1 MW. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007.

At the completion of the project, TXU will have 965 MW of capacity from wind generators. Furthermore, the project will move the state of Texas closer to achieving its renewable energy target of 5,880 MW of its electric generation from renewable sources by 2015. The target is part of the Texas Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS). Qualifying renewable resources in Texas are solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, wave energy, and biomass, including landfill gas. The renewables target includes 500 MW of non-wind, renewable resources. Moreover, qualifying facilities must be installed after September 1999. In Texas, the RPS applies to all retail energy providers including municipal and cooperative utilities.
