LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Dominion and Shell WindEnergy Add Second Phase to West Virginia Wind Project
LCG, August 1, 2007--Dominion and Shell WindEnergy, Inc. announced yesterday that a second phase will be added to a large wind farm currently under development in Grant County, West Virginia. The combined phases of the wind project would provide an electric generating capacity of 264 MW.
The initial phase of the wind project includes 82 turbines with a total electric generating capacity of 164 MW. Construction is underway, with commercial operations scheduled for late this year. The new, second phase will consist of 50 turbines with a combined capacity of 100 MW. Given timely receipt of permits, the second phase will commence operations in 2008.
The wind farm is located near Dominion's Mount Storm Power Station. A new 500 kV electric transmission line proposed by Dominion to increase supply and reliability in the region would enhance power flows from the new wind farm to growing loads in the area.
Earlier this month, Dominion Virginia Power, a subsidiary of Dominion, announced plans to increase the use of renewable generation. Plans include a goal of relying on renewable resources for 12 percent of its electricity by 2022, which is consistent with legislation adopted earlier this year by the Virginia General Assembly.
