LCG, July 2, 2025--Alliant Energy today announced plans to add up to 1,000 MW of wind energy generating capacity in Iowa to meet demand and ensure reliable, affordable energy for its customers. The plans are included in a filing with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC), and the company anticipates a decision from the IUC in the first quarter of 2026.

FERC Approves El Paso's Expansion of Elba Island LNG Terminal
LCG, September 21, 2007--The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) yesterday approved the expansion of the existing Elba Island LNG facility near Savannah, Georgia, together with construction of related natural gas pipeline expansions. The expansion is designed to enable the receipt additional natural gas supplies into the Southeast, where gas can then be transported via pipeline to markets. The storage capacity will increase by 8.44 Bcf, and the vaporization capacity will increase by 900 MMcf/day. The expansion will occur in two phases, with the initial phase scheduled to be operational by June 1, 2010.
Southern LNG, a subsidiary of El Paso subsidiary Southern Natural Gas Company (SNG), is now authorized by the FERC to proceed with Phase A, which includes the construction of a new storage tank with a capacity of 4.22 Bcf and modifications to the terminal to enable the simultaneous unloading of two LNG ships.
Phase B will include the construction of a second storage tank with a capacity of 4.22 Bcf, along with facilities to add firm send-out capacity of 495 MMcf/day. Phase B is scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2012. The estimated combined cost for the facilities in Phase A and B is $509.2 million.
With respect to related gas pipelines, the FERC yesterday also granted authority to Elba Express to build and operate a new pipeline reaching from Port Wentworth, Georgia to interconnections with the Transco pipeline system in Georgia and South Carolina. In addition, Elba Express is authorized to install a compressor station to provide 1,175 MMcf/day of firm transportation from the LNG terminal to interconnections with the Transco pipeline system. Elba Express is a subsidiary of SNG.
El Paso Corp. filed its applications with the FERC to approve an expansion of its Elba Island LNG facility and to construct the Elba Express Pipeline Project in October 2006.
