TVA's Growing Wind Portfolio

LCG, February 19, 2010--Iberdrola Renewables announced yesterday that it executed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for the output from a 300-MW wind farm in Illinois. The project is scheduled to commence operations this spring.

The Streator-Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project is located south of Chicago in Livingston County. The project includes Gamesa G87 2.0-MW wind turbines, and Streator-Cayuga Ridge Wind Power LLC will manage the wind farm.

The wind project is one of five major wind power agreements planned by TVA to increase its renewable energy resources. Earlier this week, TVA announced a 20-year, PPA with Horizon Wind Energy LLC for the output from the 115-MW, Pioneer Prairie Wind Farm in Howard and Mitchell counties in Iowa. This project is scheduled to commence operations this fall.

TVA has plans with CPV Renewable Energy Company for power supplies from the Cimarron Wind Farm, a 165-MW project in Gray County, Kansas. The project is expected to include Siemens Power Generation SWT-2.3-93 2.3-MW wind turbines. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with operations to commence in early 2012.

TVA also plans to receive power from two projects underway by Invenergy Wind affiliates. Bishop Hill Energy LLC will supply wind energy from its 200-MW, Bishop Hill Wind Energy Center in Henry County, Illinois, and the project will use General Electric 1.5-MW class wind turbines. Generation will begin in January 2012. White Oak Energy LLC will supply power from its 150-MW, White Oak Energy Center in McLean County, Illinois. This project will also use General Electric 1.5-MW class wind turbines. Both projects will initiate construction this year and commence operations in January 2012.

The five wind projects will add a total of 930 MW of wind power to TVA's portfolio.
