LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

Dominion Selects Mitsubishi for New Reactor in Virginia
LCG, May 12, 2010--Dominion Virginia Power announced Friday that it selected Mitsubishi Heavy Industry's Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor (US-APWR) design for its new nuclear reactor sited adjacent to the existing two reactors at the North Anna Power Station, located approximately 60 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia.
Dominion's announcement stated that it has not yet decided to build a new nuclear unit at North Anna, but expects to make a decision later this year.
The Mitsubishi US-APWR design is now undergoing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) certification process.
The chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion, the parent company of Dominion Virginia Power, stated, "Dominion Virginia Power is the first utility in the United States to conduct a competitive bidding process for new reactor technology in the past decade. We are pleased with the results of this process. Based on our final analysis of the proposals received in the competitive process, Mitsubishi provided the most attractive value for our customers."
In November 2007, Dominion received an early site permit (ESP) from the NRC for the new reactor. The ESP stated that the site is suitable for a third reactor and provided for a 20-year option for Dominion to consider adding the reactor. Dominion also filed an application with the NRC for a Combined Operating License (COL) to construct and operate the third nuclear reactor at the North Anna Power Station. When the application was filed, it was expected that Dominion would use the GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) design.
