LCG, September 12, 2025--Entergy announced yesterday that the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved Entergy Texas’ proposal to build two efficient natural gas-fired power plants to support the region’s rapid growth. The combined electric generating capacity of the two facilities, the Legend Power Station and the Lone Star Power Station, will add over 1,200 MW to the Southeast Texas power grid to support new customer demand, increase reliability and lower costs for all customers. Both facilities are scheduled to commence operations by mid-2028.

LCG, September 4, 2025--Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced yesterday that phased construction has commenced on its 142-MW Appaloosa Solar Project, a utility-scale solar facility underway in southeastern Washington. The project is being built by Qcells EPC, who will serve as the module manufacturer and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution provider. Construction is scheduled through 2026, and commercial operation is expected at the end of next year.

AREVA Pursues Clean Energy Park Project in New Brunswick
LCG, July 9, 2010--AREVA signed a letter of intent yesterday with the Province of New Brunswick and New Brunswick Power (NB Power) to develop a Clean Energy Park project near the Point Lepreau nuclear station. The project may include AREVA's nuclear and renewable technologies.
The letter of intent (LOI) provides for NB Power, the provincial government and AREVA to work "intensively" to complete an agreement by the end of this year.
AREVA will evaluate the feasibility of constructing a mid-sized, light water, generation III+ nuclear plant. Given a positive outcome, AREVA would manage the design, construction and financing of the reactor, while NB Power would support the licensing process and operate the facility.
The LOI indicates that the Clean Energy Park project would potentially incorporate renewable power generation, such as biomass, offshore wind, and concentrated solar power (CSP) facilities.
The existing Point Lepreau station commenced operations in February 1983 and consists of one CANDU-6 nuclear unit, with a net capacity of 635 MW. The site was initially approved to be home to two reactors. NB Power began refurbishing the facility in April 2008, and the project is behind schedule. The refurbishment is expected to extend the station's life to 2032.
In April, AREVA announced an agreement with the Fresno Nuclear Energy Group (FNEG) to develop a similar Clean Energy Park, including a nominal 1,600 MW U.S. EPR™ reactor, in California. In June of last year, AREVA and Duke announced that they were exploring the development of a Clean Energy Park in Ohio.
