LCG, October 6, 2026--Google and Constellation Energy today announced a long-term strategic clean energy collaboration to bring 890 MW of new, reliable, carbon-free nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid to meet growing demand and increase grid reliability. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028.

LCG, October 5, 2026--The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) today announced a conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion to finance nuclear uprates and modernization across Vistra’s nuclear fleet in Pennsylvania and Ohio. The projects are expected to preserve nearly 4 GW of carbon-free, baseload power and add 433 MW of new nuclear capacity that will support the growing electricity demand across the PJM region.

PJM Electric Transmission Project Stalls
LCG, March 2, 2011--PJM Interconnection, the regional grid operator, indefinitely suspended the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline (PATH) project due to declining load forecasts and a corresponding reduced need for grid improvements.
American Electric Power (AEP) and FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) Monday also announced that their affiliates will request to withdraw their applications for state regulatory approval to construct the $2 billion PATH project. The joint venture project included the construction of a 765-kV, 275-mile transmission line from Putnam County, West Virginia to Frederick County, Maryland. The Public Service Commission of West Virginia yesterday agreed to dismiss the application without prejudice.
PJM Interconnection plans to further analyze the potential need for PATH as part of its continuing Regional Transmission Expansion Plan. In 2007, PJM directed PATH to be built in order to improve grid reliability and meet forecast load growth, which has not materialized with the recent recession.
