AECC Agrees to Purchase Power from 150 MW Wind Project in Oklahoma

LCG, July 23, 2013--Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES Americas) announced yesterday that its subsidiary, RES America Developments Inc., reached a long-term agreement to sell 150 MW of wind energy from the Origin Wind Energy project to Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC), which will be the only recipient of the project's power output.

RES Americas developed and will construct the 75-turbine Origin Wind Energy project, located in southeast Oklahoma. The project is scheduled to commence commercial operation by December 31, 2014.

"The latest addition of 150 MW of low-cost wind energy provides AECC with a hedge against fluctuating natural gas energy prices," said AECC's president and chief executive officer. "AECC will have 201 MW of wind energy in its generation assets with this addition. We will continue to pursue energy options that allow AECC's member cooperatives to provide reliable electricity at the lowest possible cost."

The National Renewables Cooperative Organization (NRCO), which enables cooperatives nationwide to pool the ownership and benefits of renewable resources, assisted AECC with identifying and evaluating the project.
