DTE Commissions 13 Wind Turbines in Echo Wind Park
LCG, October 24, 2013--DTE Energy announced yesterday that the first 13 wind turbines at its Echo Wind Park have been commissioned. The entire, 70-turbine wind farm is scheduled to commence commercial operation by the end of November.
The 112-MW Echo Wind Park is sited on nearly 16,000 acres in Huron County, Michigan and will be the third wind farm to be owned and operated by DTE Energy.
In December 2012, the 110-MW Thumb Wind Park achieved commercial operation. DTE Energy also is a part owner in the 212.8-MW Gratiot County Wind Park. DTE owns sixty-four of the turbines, and Gratiot Wind LLC, an affiliate of Invenergy Wind LLC, owns 69 turbines. DTE purchases the power from Invenergy's turbines under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
Wind power is an important renewable energy resource for DTE Energy to develop in meeting the Michigan Clean, Renewable, and Efficient Energy Act that was passed in October 2008.
